ARISTICAT

“ARISTICAT”   The Cheetah is probably my favorite cat in the wild.  I was able to visit a sanctuary focused on the careful breeding of them in an effort to increase the health and population of cheetahs in the wild.  As with many other species, they struggle with endangerment from loss of habitat, loss of prey, poaching, illegal wildlife trafficking, and limited genetic diversity.   In addition, areas where they are in proximity to large predators, cheetah cub mortality rate can be as high as 90%.   Because of the efforts of the sanctuaries and conservationists focusing on these issues, we will continue to share this incredible world with these incredible animals. 

It was not work to paint this beauty.   I wanted him to look regal so I painted him sitting like royalty on a luxurious, antique couch, looking very spoiled.
