LOONS

“LOONS”    For many years I have traveled to Minnesota, my favorite fishing place in the country, to fish with family and friends.  Many lakes around that state have Loons nearby and the sound they make warms my heart.  It is a real “call of the wild”.  The birds often come close to the boat in search of the same thing we are searching for…fish!  Often they have their babies with them, riding on the parent’s back.  I kept putting off this painting but finally got to it.  For over 40 years I painted solely using oils, but for this one I decided to use acrylics.  It had been so long I had a bit of a re-learning curve but I truly enjoyed doing this painting, hard as it was.  Who says old artists can't be taught !
