“Preening Sandhill” (Sandhill Crane) While on a photographic trip with Allen P. Bargen, We came upon a lot of birds in a sanctuary just outside Vancouver, BC. I had a pocketful of grain for the ducks, hoping to lure them in for the “perfect shot”. A wild Sandhill Crane flew in wanting to get the same treatment. I actually got her to eat grain from my hand. My last painting was on of that bird. When I have close encounters with the animals I paint, it puts my heart directly into the painting. It immediately sold. This painting is from a shot that Allen took during the same trip. I love the composition and immediately started painting it. Thank you, once again, Allen.
