As a kid, growing up in Idaho, I was a very avid hunter. We were a very poor family and it was necessary to keep all of my family fed. With a sick father and six kids, hunting and fishing was something I always did. I haven't hunted in years, but seem to paint them now rather than eat them. I have over 50 of these quail that come into my drive every day, waiting for me to spread out the feed for them. Its so fun to see the little baby chicks when they are first born. Mother nature has them able to fly in about a week. They are beautiful. By themselves, they look bright and colorful, but amongst the territory they live in, they really blend in well.
