We have a beautiful river, here on the coast of Oregon, called the Siletz River. It runs from the coast thru the Siletz Indian Reservation. It has runs of salmon who travel up the river every year. It was used for floating logs down the river to an area where they could be loaded on trucks for the mill. A movie was shot in the same area where this old log is located, called "Sometimes a Great Notion". I have caught a lot of salmon right behind this log, so it has special meaning. I truly loved doing this painting, although being in quite a bind with broken ribs during it.
