STRIPES

“STRIPES”   This wild member from the horse family with their starkly colored black and white stripes is, to an artist, a walking artwork.    It was both a challenge and a joy to paint this fine pair. We had the opportunity to go to Kenya with a wildlife conservation group from the Seattle Zoo. On the way to camp after we first landed, we saw a large herd of zebras and the sight was magical. When I returned home and went through our Kenya photos making the decision to STRIPES, I felt that original excitement.  We were there for three incredible weeks, each of which went by too fast.  It was hard to leave that unbelievable, amazing country and there are probably still claw marks in the tarmac as they tried to drag me towards the plane homeward.  

The painting is 48” x 36”, oil on canvas with a gallery wrap.
